GRITT: A WYSIWYG Tool for Joomla Template Development

GRITT (GRId Template Tool) is a tool for Joomla developers that provides for fast development of Joomla templates.

GRITT combines the 960GS css framework with javascript to create a wysiwyg tool for template building. You can layout your next project in minutes not hours using GRITT. Simply point and click to layout your template, then tweak the css for a finished look. GRITT generates the index.php, templateDetails.xml, and css files for you, and they can be installed using the template upload facility that’s built into Joomla.

You can check out the demonstration video by clicking the “GRITT” link at the top of this page. Then download a free copy and try it for yourself.

Life After Cobol…

Welcome to my brand new blog!
I’ve given it the sub-title “Life After Cobol” because this is part of the reinvention of my IT career. After more than 25 years of hard work I’ve suddenly come to the end of the road: Cobol programming work in the US has, in most cases, been obsoleted or outsourced and therefore the chances of being gainfully employed using that technology are between slim and none.

Now I have to be honest, I’m not exactly a newcomer to web technology. Over the past ten years or so I’ve developed and published several websites for myself and others. What is new is the fact that I’m now trying to earn a living doing it.

What I hope to achieve here is first, to demonstrate some of my skills as a web developer, and second, to pass along some useful information to others who are making the same transition.

Please check back often as I hope to update this blog regularly.
